| New first-time parent web service launched | Posted on 10/08/2009 in Medical Government/ NHS related news A new web service that aims to help parents and carers to keep their youngsters healthy has been launched by the Department of Health.
The NHS Baby LifeCheck resource is designed to be used by people looking after babies between the ages of five and eight months for the first time.
Offerings on the site include helpful videos, details of support organisations for those who would like expert advice and hints about how to tackle new situations.
Commenting on the launch of the new service, health minister Ann Keen, the Labour MP for Brentford & Isleworth, said that the site offers "non-judgemental" advice to people.
"It's an easy way for parents to find out if they are doing the best thing for their child, whilst also supporting them to set goals or find further help to make improvements," she added.
NHS Baby LifeCheck is one of three sites of its kind, complementing Teen LifeCheck - which was launched in June - and Mid-life LifeCheck, which should be set live at the end of the year.Other news stories from 10/08/2009
