Lilly announces availability of Effient in pharmacies
Lilly has announced that its Effient treatment is now available in a range of pharmacies.
In a statement, the pharmaceutical organisation explained that the Food and Drug Administration approved the tablets for the reduction of thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) who are managed by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in July.
Commenting, Dr Dean Kereiakes, medical director at the Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Centre, said that it is important to have a variety of treatment options for patients with heart disease as people respond to medications in a range of different ways.
“Before Effient was available, physicians and patients had limited antiplatelet therapy options. Effient is a new treatment option to help reduce an ACS patient’s risk of having a heart attack or stent thrombosis after PCI,” he added.
In recent days, the company announced the launch of a new faculty registry as part of its ongoing commitment to improving transparency and accountability.
