Posted on 15/07/2009 in Pharmacy Supplier News Actavis has announced the launch of the therapy Irinotecan in the UK.
In a statement, the organisation said that the treatment, which is the generic equivalent of Pfizer's Camptosar, is also available in Austria, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden as of today.
The drug is available in two different vial sizes - 40mg/2ml and 100mg/5ml - and is used for the management of patients with metastatic carcinoma of the rectum or colon.
Actavis stated that the patents for the drug expired on July 12th and 13th, adding that it is the first company to market it in all six of the aforementioned EU countries.
The company added: "Actavis and its third-party sales division, Medis, have now launched Irinotecan in more than 20 countries. Irinotecan Actavis is produced by Actavis Romania."
Earlier this year, the company announced that its over-the-counter drug Clamelle was given the Nicholas Hall European New Product of the Year Award, which is presented to celebrate innovative and successful product launches.Other news stories from 15/07/2009
