It has been created to recognise outstanding levels of reporting in medical and consumer media about treatments that can help couples who struggle to conceive naturally.
Submission for entries opened yesterday (July 1st) and will close on March 1st 2010, with two categories for applicants to choose from ? best written article and best broadcast account.
Helen Gallagher, Ferring's director of corporate communications, will be one of the judges.
She commented: "The award is designed to honour media excellence, reflecting the importance of media coverage in helping infertile couples understand infertility and the treatment options available."
The winner of the award will receive a paid trip and entry to the 2010 Annual Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
Meanwhile, the company has also launched its second Ferring Research Infertility and Gynaecology Grant.
