Covidien's ranking in a recent table highlights its dedication to innovation, it has been claimed.
President of the company Joe Almeida made this comment after it was announced the firm had been named the best innovator in the medical devices and services industry by the Patent Board.
The organisation ? which is an official partner of the Wall Street Journal ? ranked 122 businesses in the sector based on their portfolios.
Christine Wren is director of external communications at the Patent Board and noted Covidien had increased its score by 80 per cent since last year.
Mr Almeida stated the achievement reflects the company?s dedication.
"It underscores the depth of our intellectual capital and our collaborative approach to intellectual property development," he commented.
Meanwhile, Covidien has launched a website to give the medical community information about recent advances and research in bariatric surgery.
Surgeons, primary care physicians, nurses and endocrinologists are among those the company thinks will be able to benefit from the online resource.
