Bayer Schering Pharma to develop cancer-related targets

Posted on 30/06/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News

Bayer Schering Pharma looks forward to developing five cancer-related targets, it has asserted.

Thanks to an exclusive licence agreement with Celera Corporation, the company has access to the products to explore their full benefits.

Professor Khusru Asadullah from Bayer Schering Pharma noted the deal will allow the business to expand its cancer-related research.

"We look forward to exploring the full potential of these promising target candidates with regard to therapeutic interference for anti-tumour therapy as well as in in-vivo diagnostic imaging," he said.

A one-time fee will be paid to Celera from Bayer Schering Pharma and further milestone handouts will be given throughout the course of the development process.

Once the products are commercialised, the former firm will be entitled to loyalties based on net sales.

In other news, Bayer Schering Pharma completed a study earlier this month that looked at the effect BAY 94-9172 had on Alzheimer's disease imaging.

Once the data has been analysed, it will be discussed at an international conference about the medical condition, which will be held in Vienna later this year.
