Roche says it wants to think about ABPI relationship

Roche has asserted the time it has spent away from Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has given it time to reflect on their relationship.
Earlier this year, the organisation lifted a suspension it had placed on the firm, which the company stated it was pleased about.
However, Roche said it continually reviews its operations and is now looking at the partnership, as well as the mutual needs for the future.
"We have concluded that this is something we need to review further and for that reason, we have decided not to re-join the ABPI for the time being," it remarked.
The company asserted it would continue to work with the organisation's code of practice, adding it believed training staff to meet industry standards was very important.
Roche concluded it would continue to review the situation.
The ABPI works with regulators, the government and other stakeholders to promote standards in the field and to ensure patients have access to the best medicines.
