| Hologic discusses R2 DigitalNow HD software | Posted on 15/06/2009 in Scientific Hologic has announced the availability of a new software application that was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
The company explains the R2 DigitalNow HD offering could be good news for those working in the medical imaging sector, as it is the only one of its kind to offer digitised screen-film mammograms.
When used for comparison purposes, Hologic claims radiologists will see the results of its collaboration with others in their field a move which aimed to obtain a better understanding of their day-to-day requirements.
Embedded look-up tables, compatibility with integrated healthcare enterprise mammography conformant workstations and enhanced workflow options are among the many benefits the system provides.
Julian Marshall, director of R2 product management and principal engineer for the group, states: "One of the most powerful capabilities of this product is that images already digitised by R2 DigitalNow software and stored in PACS can be routed to R2 DigitalNow HD and reprocessed."
Last week, Hologic's chief financial officer Glenn Muir appeared at the eighth Annual Needham Life Sciences Conference in New York.
