| BD Biosciences launches new cell analyser system | Posted on 02/06/2009 in Scientific BD Biosciences has announced details of its latest compact cell analyser system for use in the field of multicolour flow cytometry. The firm, which also goes by the name of Becton, Dickinson and Company, claimed its LSRFortessa offering provides researchers the ability to conduct a selection of complex experiments. Billed as "significantly smaller" than its more substantially-sized LSR II sibling, BD explained the unit also provides more flexibility - as it takes up less bench space. Jay Glasscock, president of BD Biosciences' cell analysis business, stated the compact nature of the LSRFortessa makes it a better option for some users. "Space is at a premium in most research settings, leading many labs to compromise system power and performance because of space limitations," he added. Last month, the company's board of directors declared quarterly dividends of 33 cents per common share to be paid to investors at the end of June.
