Posted on 28/05/2009 in Veterinary Supplier News Virbac has strengthened its position in the external parasiticides market, it has asserted.
The company made this declaration after launching two Fipronil-based medicines - Effipro spot-on and Effipro spray.
After being developed for a number of years, these products are now available to treat flea and tick infestations in felines and canines.
Marketing authorisation for the therapies was obtained in November 2008.
The company commented: "With Effipro, Virbac intends to offer all European veterinarians a new alternative in the leading segment of the European companion animal market."
Due to the originality of the packaging, flexibility of both formats and effectiveness of the treatment, the business voiced its confidence of the products being highly competitive in the industry.
The external parasites segment is a market worth 380 million euros (332 million pounds) and accounts for around a third of veterinary medicine sales for pets across the continent.
Some 61 per cent of Virbac's sales come from products for companion animals and it focuses a large proportion of its research and development resources on this area.Other news stories from 28/05/2009
