Posted on 27/05/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Restructures Gilead has announced Dr Louis G Lange will assume a part-time position with the company.
Currently, he is working as executive vice-president at CV Therapeutics and this move marks the ongoing integration of the two firms.
Dr John C Martin, Gilead's chairman and chief executive officer, explained Mr Lange has already played a significant role in helping the two businesses unite, adding he will continue to provide insight and input into the company's cardiovascular disease research and development programmes.
"I am confident that we will be able to advance clinical and research programs as efficiently as possible and ultimately bring forward new therapies that represent significant advancements for patients," remarked Dr Martin.
In April this year, CV Therapeutics became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gilead following the completion of the acquisition.
Each outstanding shares of the former not held by the latter was automatically converted into the right to receive $20 (12.49 pounds) in cash.
With operations in Europe, North America and Australia, Gilead discovers, develops and markets therapeutics in areas of unmet medical needs.Other news stories from 27/05/2009
