| Siemens highlights blood gas analysis systems | Posted on 26/05/2009 in Scientific Siemens blood gas analysers produce fast and accurate critical test results, the company has revealed.
The RAPIDPoint 340/350 analysers can be used in a variety of low to medium testing sites, from laboratories to emergency rooms, according to the group.
While Siemens advocates commencing patient therapy as early as possible, the device has been described as "vital for rapid treatment decisions".
Requiring minimal operator involvement, the analysers are efficient and accurate, boasting features such as flexible sampling options and fully automated performance monitoring.
A statement from the organisation said: "The RAPIDPoint 340/350 analysers are compact, lightweight units that are easily transported - they feature an intuitive interface for convenient operation."
Earlier this year, the Siemens RAPIDLab 348 system was used by the Everest Expedition Team in a scientific project measuring blood gas levels.
It is thought that testing at extreme altitudes, such as those above 8,000 metres, may help to understand certain elements of human physiology and lead to improvements in patient care.
