| Abbott says Xience V study data proves its popularity | Posted on 22/05/2009 in Medical Company Product News Abbott has stated the results from its Xience V Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System clinical trials prove why the device is popular.
Investigations found patients had a low rate of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and stent thrombosis, as well as a reduced need for further procedures.
The Spirit V study examined the product in a diverse population, ranging from individuals with multi-vessel disease to diabetes to highly complex lesions.
Dr Charles Simonton is the chief medical officer at Abbott Vascular and commented on the findings.
"The outstanding data ? and consistently strong performance of Xience V across all clinical trials reinforce why physicians throughout the world have embraced this technology," he said.
President of Abbott Vascular Robert Hance added the company is pleased with the progress that has been made with the device.
He concluded the business looks forward to launching the Xience Prime in Europe later this year.
The results were presented yesterday (May 21st) at EuroPCR.
