Posted on 07/05/2009 in Dental Supplier News Colgate has called on consumers to ensure they follow common sense hygiene practices to keep their families healthy.
It said that germs cannot be avoided and are capable of lingering on common household objects such as doorknobs, risking infection should someone else touch these items.
Colgate is now encouraging parents to teach their children the basics of good hygiene by showing them how to wash their hands properly with warm soapy water to combat germs.
Parents should remind their offspring to wash their hands before activities such as eating, playing with other children and using the family computer and after going to the toilet, using public transport and eating in school dining rooms.
Dr Val Curtis, director of the Hygiene Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, remarked: "It's never too early or too late to educate kids about proper hand washing.
"Teaching your children how and when to thoroughly clean hands helps to establish lasting hand washing routines."
Colgate recently launched a new single-use mini toothbrush that lets consumers keep their teeth clean on the go without needing water or rinsing.
