Posted on 28/04/2009 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Archimedes has reached a major milestone by filing a marketing application for its product NasalFent, it has asserted.
Described by the company as its "lead development product", the fentanyl nasal spray is intended to rapidly relieve breakthrough cancer pain.
In trials, the product was shown to have a significant effect within five minutes of being administered, compared to the placebo.
The data from the clinical development programme ? which took place across 13 countries in over 100 sites ? has been submitted with the marketing authorisation application to the European Medicines Evaluation Agency.
Chief executive officer of Archimedes Rochard de Souza explained the company conducted one of the most significant phase III investigations in breakthrough cancer pain.
"NasalFent [?] demonstrates clear advantages over existing competitor treatments either on the market or in development," he commented.
As defined by patients' needs, the medication is the best possible to help them, Mr Souza concluded.
