Video footage of a cloned human embryo will be broadcast to the general public for the first time ever tonight.
Reporter Peter Williams was granted exclusive access to the controversial fertility scientist Dr Panayiotis Zavos during his continuing attempts to create the first cloned human.
The documentary, which will be shown on the Discovery Channel tonight, will show the medical professional at work.
Dr Zavos caused some to be outraged in 2004 after he announced he had transferred a cloned human embryo into the womb of an un-named surrogate mother.
Tonight's film reveals how he has transferred a further 11 cloned embryos into four women, one of whom is British, in an attempt to produce the world's first cloned baby.
The documentary also shows the scientist and his team of researchers have continued with their cross-species work to combine human cells with cow eggs, work that is still illegal in many parts of the world.
The one-off programme, entitled Human Cloning, is due to be broadcast at 21:00 BST tonight.
