AstraZeneca supports Seroquel review

AstraZeneca fully supports the upcoming review of its drug Seroquel.

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) psychopharmacologic drugs advisory committee will meet on June 9th and 10th to discuss the safety and efficacy of the treatment.

It is intended to be used for the management of schizophrenia in adolescents, those between 13 and 17-years-old, as well as bipolar mania in the same age group and children.

Seroquel was previously approved in 1997 to be used for adults who suffered from manic and depressive episodes. It has undergone a number of clinical trials to evaluate the drug.

“AstraZeneca fully supports the work of the FDA in conducting a full review of the potential benefits and risks of Seroquel,” the pharmaceutical company asserted.
