Johnson and Johnson company receives clearance for new system

24th December 2008

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) company Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (OCD) has received clearance for a new system designed to help laboratories assess cost, quality and labour resources.

The VITROS 3600 Immunodiagnostic System also enables organisations to decrease turnaround times and address workloads, it was stated.

The immunoassay system is a high-capacity device with three different technologies for “accurate test results”, said OCD.

It can also verify analytical performance while minimising the potential for errors, perform quality checks and provide “exceptional assay performance”.

Denise Uettwiller-Geiger, administrative director and director of clinical research at the John T Mather Hospital in New York’s Port Jefferson area, said the VITROS 3600 helps experts deal with “key challenges” in the sector.

“The intelligent sample management capabilities of the VITROS 3600 Immunodiagnostic System allow users to increase productivity while maintaining high-quality test results,” she added.

OCD said clearance had been given by the US Food and Drug Administration and it is now commercially available.

In related J&J news, the company announced this week that it had extended its cash tender offer via a wholly-owned subsidiary – Binder Merger Sub – for the outstanding shares in Omrix Pharmaceuticals.
