More information to be included in NHS Evidence

Drug information and prescribing guidance is set to become a "key part" of NHS Evidence, the Department of Health (DoH) has said.
Scheduled to be launched in April 2009, the responsibility for provision of this information for the NHS will transfer from the DoH to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
As part of High Quality Care for All - the health service's next stage review final report - NHS Evidence is a single portal aimed at providing health professionals and patients with a single location for their information needs.
Dr Gillian Leng, interim chief operating officer for NHS Evidence and NICE deputy chief executive, said she was "delighted" with the proposals.
"We are looking forward to working in partnership ? to ensure that NHS staff have access to sound, up-to-date advice and information about the use of medicines," she added.
In other news, an independent review group has been appointed by health secretary Alan Johnson.
As part of an attempt to help improve access for patients who want to see an NHS dentist, the staff will investigate the regional variations in access - with members of the public also advised on how to see a practitioner.
