Nestle launches nutritional research programme
Nestle has announced a new research programme this week, focusing on the nutritional needs of athletes.
The project will "further [strengthen] the company’s commitment to promoting sporting integrity through nutrition", according to Nestle, following last month’s International Nutrition Symposium on food and performance, which was held at the Nestle Research Centre.
Key findings included the importance of a good diet on physical performance, which "has a much greater potential than previously recognised" in terms of improving performance, the symposium discovered.
The new programme will therefore look at the different needs of varying types of sportspeople and offer information to "help support a more personalised approach to sports nutrition in the future". This should result in the introduction of a new generation of personalised nutrition products for athletes, Nestle explained.
