Posted on 22/10/2008 in Pharmacy Supplier News Bayer has announced it is offering a total of 150,000 euros (118,000 pounds) to assist medicine and natural sciences students.
The Bayer Science & Education Foundation will fund 23 students in ten countries, the pharmaceutical company has announced.
Candidates for the scholarships must be "the brightest minds to shape our future", according to Dr Wolfgang Plischke, member of the Board of Management of Bayer, responsible for research.
"The promotion of excellence - both in terms of social and specialist capabilities - is key here," he said.
Applicants should also be prepared to impress a panel of judges with their personality as well as plans and know-how, Bayer said.
Earlier this month, Bayer announced its novel oral anticoagulant Xarelto (rivaroxaban) had received its European licence.
The drug has been found to have significantly higher level of effectiveness than the current standard, the company stated. It will be used to tackle the issue of hospital-acquired deep-vein thrombosis.
