Bayer unveils Contour meter and Microlet 2 lancing device

9th September 2008

Bayer HealthCae Diabetes Care has unveiled new products at the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Rome, Italy.

The company introduced its new Contour blood glucose meter which incorporates enhanced testing features and its redesigned Microlet 2 lancing system with new product packaging.

Its updated Contour meter includes the firm’s own No Coding technology, small sample size and rapid testing time and offers users basic or advanced levels of testing to make the management of their condition as specific or simplified as they choose.

The redesigned Microlet 2 lancing system is included with the new Contour meter and has a large release button, reduced puncture force and smooth silicone-coated lancets to enable easy injection.

Dr David Martin of the European diabetes care division of Bayer HealthCare, said: “A basic component of diabetes management is blood sugar control.”

He added that the simplification of blood glucose monitoring for enhanced control is of benefit to healthcare providers and patients alike.

At last year’s EASD annual meeting held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Bayer presented its full range of blood glucose meters, including its Contour Pro, Contour Link, Contour TS, Contour and Breeze monitors.
