| Alcon recognises top researchers | Posted on 28/08/2008 in Pharmacy Supplier News The Alcon Research Institute has recognised seven top researchers in ophthalmology with new grants.
Alcon Laboratories reports these seven doctors have been nominated by previous winners and chosen by the independent scientific selection committee of the research institute.
The pharmacy supplier reports each will receive $100,000 (55,020 pounds) in unrestricted grant money to continue their research.
Dr Stanley Chang, chairman of the institute, said: "The Alcon Research Institute is proud to recognise the career achievements of the world's leading researchers in ophthalmology."
He added the contributions of the current winners to the field carry on the long-standing tradition of excellence in medical and scientific investigation of those recognised in the past.
Earlier this month, Alcon Laboratories awarded the contract for the basic design and concept of its pharmaceutical manufacturing plant to Foster Wheeler subsidiary Biokinetics.Other news stories from 28/08/2008
