| Merial animal health appoints new research chief | Posted on 22/07/2008 in Veterinary Supplier News Merial, the animal health business, has appointed Dr Ellen de Brabander as the head of its research and development (R&D) activities around the world.
The business operates as a joint venture between Merck & Co and Sanofi-Aventis and claims to be among the world's foremost "research-driven" animal health product suppliers.
Dr de Brabander's previous job was a head of R&D at the Intervet company has suggested that the animal health sector is a attractive one for experts in healthcare innovation.
"There is a constant and strong demand for new and better products but this is also a business with complexity and dynamics that are very different from other industries," she said.
"It is exciting to be able to meet this market demand by applying new technologies that allow us to develop products that make a real difference for our customers."
Merial was first established in 1997 and the business claims to account for close to 14 per cent of the global animal healthcare products market.
