| Actelion announces half-year results | Posted on 22/07/2008 in Pharmaceutical Company Financials Actelion has announced its financial results for the first half of the 2008 fiscal year, with the company reporting revenues of 676 million Swiss francs for the period, up from 636.4 million Swiss francs for the same time last year.
These figures were driven by Tracleer sales of 605.2 million Swiss francs for the period, with the company also reporting a cash EBIT of 190.8 million Swiss francs.
Operating profit for the period was 137.2 million Swiss francs, up from an operating loss of 50.8 million Swiss francs in the first half of 2007.
The firm reports that a number of phase III studies are on track, while the company expects a substantial impact from its orexin receptor antagonist collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to start in the second half of this year.
Jean-Paul Clozel, chief executive officer of the company, said: "In the first six months of 2008, Actelion has continued to grow both, product revenues and product pipeline."
He added that it has chosen a dedicated partner with full understanding of the value proposition of almorexant in GSK.
