Merial Animal Health appoints new R&D chief

The Merial Animal Health company has appointed new head of research and development (R&D) activities, it has emerged.
Dr Ellen de Brabander is to oversee the R&D projects carried out by the Dutch animal health firm, which has operations in a total of 150 countries around the world.
In response to her appointment, Dr de Brabander suggested that is currently has a particularly strong R&D environment and she suggested that Merial has a solid presence in "all major species" of drugs in the industry.
She said: "I am very pleased to have joined Merial because it is an innovation-driven, world-leading animal health company with a strong existing foundation.
"I am fully committed to further strengthen the innovative power at Merial."
The Dutch company claims to be among the world's foremost "innovation-driven" animal health firms and supplies products to livestock owners, as well as vets in the UK.
