Johnson and Johnson pump research reports acne distress
The impact of acne of adults who continue to suffer from it is significant, a report suggests.
A study conducted on behalf of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), makers of the Retin-A Micro Pump, reveals nearly half of dermatologists’ patients are adults.
The effects of acne on adult lifestyles indicate it is stressful, inhibits social interaction and could curtail career progression, the Skin Matters survey said.
Richard Fried, clinical director at Yardley Dermatology and Yardley Skin Enhancement and Wellness Centre, author of Healing Adult Can, said acne is “definitely not just a teen issue”.
“It has become increasingly common for adults to experience acne – one in five women who suffer from acne is between the ages of 25 and 40.”
He added that the emotions experienced by the onset of adult acne could also make the problem worse but people’s reactions to their acne varied.
J&J’s Retin-A Micro is a topical prescription treatment that promises to start clearing up skin within two weeks with full results after seven weeks.
