GlaxoSmithKline announces AGM results

GlaxoSmithKline has announced the results of its annual general meeting (AGM).

The company notes that at the conference, all resolutions were passed by its shareholders, including those electing and re-electing members of the board.

Notable figures include a 95.18 per cent vote in favour of adoption of the company’s financial statements and an 85.89 per cent vote in favour of approval of its remuneration report.

A resolution to authorise the firm to make donations to political organisations and incur political expenditure was passed with a 97.09 per cent vote.

Meanwhile, a 98.23 per cent vote in favour of authorising the company to purchase its own shares also took place.

Board members re-elected included Sir Ian Prosser, Dr Ronaldo Schmitz and Sir Christopher Gent.

In related news, the firm announced positive results from the first-ever Phase III trial evaluating Tykerb and Tyverb plus Herceptin in women with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer earlier this month.
