| Wyeth announces new research president | Posted on 01/05/2008 in Pharmaceutical Company Restructures Pharmaceutical firm Wyeth has announced that Mikael Dohlsten will succeed Robert R Ruffolo Jr as the president of Wyeth Research and the senior vice-president of Wyeth later this year following his retirement.
Dr Dohlsten has previously been responsible for leading pharmaceutical research for Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany, Italy, Austria, Japan, the US and Canada in the role of executive vice-president within pharmaceutical research and development.
"We look forward to Dr Dohlsten's leadership as we work together to continue our success at Wyeth Research," says Bernard Poussot, president and chief executive officer at Wyeth.
"His experience with industry in a broad range of therapeutic areas and his vision going forward match well with our scientific objectives," he added, stating that Dr Dohlsten's previous global experience may be "an inspiration" to research teams at the firm.
Wyeth has four operations in the south of England, including the headquarters of Wyeth UK prescription and consumer products in Taplow and the headquarters of the firm's European, Middle East and African operations in Maidenhead.Other news stories from 01/05/2008
