Bayer: 2007 ‘most successful year so far’
Bayer, the firm behind Bayer Animal Health, has announced that 2007 was its most successful year ever.
Speaking at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting, Werner Wenning, the chairman of the board of management, commented that the business’ operating performance had exceeded targets and previous earnings.
Furthermore, he continued, the first quarter of 2008 has been successful for Bayer, as it achieved the 21st quarter of growth in a row.
During 2007, the group saw combined sales of more than ?32 billion (£25 billion) – a six per cent increase in the previous year, Mr Wenning stated.
“These achievements are the result of the outstanding dedication displayed by all 106,000 Bayer employees worldwide. We can be very proud of them,” he added.
Last month, Bayer announced it was to work with animal health organisation Juvaris BioTherapeutics to develop the latter’s mono-immunotherapy and vaccine technology for animal healthcare.
Commenting on the results, Martin D Cleary, co-founder and chairman of the board of Juvaris, asserted that the world’s animal health market is underserved in terms of product development.
