Boston Scientific appoints new general counsel

10th April 2008

It has been revealed that Boston Scientific has appointed Timothy Pratt on to its Executive Committee as general counsel, reports CNN Money.

Mr Pratt has worked as an attorney since leaving Drake University Law School, specialising in medical devices and other pharmaceutical practices.

President and chief executive officer of Boston Scientific Jim Tobin has spoken of the role the new addition to the company will be playing as he replaces predecessor Paul Sandman.

“We are fortunate to have someone of his experience and caliber leading our legal team and providing strategic advice and counsel on the increasingly intersecting environment of legal and business issues,” he said.

Boston Scientific plays a major role in the pharmaceutical industry, as it claims to be the largest medical device company dedicated to less-invasive surgery in the world, employing over 25,000 workers.

The company was developed in the late 1960s by John Abele, who then partnered with Pete Nicholas in 1979 in order to provide innovative products for medical procedures.
