NHS staff ‘generally happy with jobs’
A new study of staff working for the NHS has revealed that employees across the country are generally satisfied with their jobs, despite changes that have taken place within the health service in recent years.
The study ? carried out by the Healthcare commission ? found that some 94 per cent of staff have taken part in training, while some 71 per cent of workers were positive about their line managers.
Commenting on the findings, chief executive of the commission Anna Walker said: “The results show that there are a lot of reasons to work in the NHS, including the satisfaction staff get from their jobs, the ability to work hours that suit through to real training opportunities.”
She added that a number of challenges had also been identified by the survey, including making staff feel more valued by senior management and improving the environment in which NHS employees work.
The study took in the views of more than 155,000 NHS staff from all of the 391 NHS trusts across the country.
Yesterday, the Healthcare commission noted that it is maintaining pressure on weaker trusts in a bid to encourage improvement in services.
