Dako enters supply and distribution deal to promote patient safety
Dako has partnered with General Data Company to become a global provider of a unique patient tissue sample identification and tracking system for anatomic pathology laboratories.
According to the company, the supply and distribution agreement is part of its strategy to deliver world-class diagnostics solutions providing accurate, quick results for cancer patients.
It will be developing bar-code labelling and durable printing solutions to secure patient ID from tissue sample to diagnosis.
The company claims that this will help reduce errors in medical administration and point-of-care testing – a view supported by the Food and Drug Administration which has stated that a bar-code identification and data management system can reduce errors by over 80 per cent.
Patrik Dahlen, chief executive officer and president of Dako, said: "Keeping track of the patients identity through all laboratory processes is a critical step forward.
"We believe General Data to have the strongest product-portfolio in the area of True Positive ID and that it optimally complements Dako’s portfolio of know-how, instruments, reagents and software solutions for cancer diagnostics."
Dako is a tissue-based cancer diagnostics company which provides reagents, instruments and software for high quality cancer diagnosis and efficient laboratory processes.
