bioMerieux and Wescor introduce new Gram staining instrument

bioMerieux has become Wescor's exclusive worldwide partner for the marketing of two customised slide stainer instruments for Gram and tuberculosis bacillus.
Under the agreement, bioMerieux will bring automation to a new step in the analytic process with its unique slide staining technology – PREVI Colour Gram and PREVI Colour TB.
According to the company, Gram staining is a critical and mandatory test utilised in the microbiology laboratory.
It added that Wescor's spray technology saves time and allows standardisation and accuracy of results, while previously the process would have been "cumbersome" and required technical expertise.
Stephane Bancel, chief executive officer of bioMerieux, said: "This very promising partnership with Wescor further advances bioMerieux's strategy to enhance microbiology laboratory automation.
"From having two microbiology instruments mid 2006, bioMerieux will be offering six microbiology instruments to customers in summer 2008."
bioMerieux has been a world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics for approximately 45 years.
It has a presence in more than 150 countries.
