Philips unveils new CT system

Philips Medical Systems, a division of Royal Philips Electronics, has unveiled its new computed tomography (CT) system which is intended to support radiologists’ work in preventing, diagnosing, treating and monitoring disease.

The CT products range allows radiologists to produce high-quality images with exceptional speed which can also provide complete coverage of organs such as the heart and brain.

The flagship product, the 256-slice Brilliance iCT scanner, can capture an image of the entire heart in just two beats while incorporating Philips technology to reduce radiation doses by up to 80 per cent.

Steve Rusckowski, chief executive office of Philips Medical Systems, commented: “The new Brilliance iCT scanner has been specifically designed by Philips to make the job of the clinicians easier and improve the experience of the patient.”

Unveiled at the 93rd annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago, Royal Philips Electronics confirmed that the CT scanner demonstrated Philips’ commitment in enabling healthcare providers to “devote attention to their patients, not just the technology”.

Last month, Philips announced the launch of a new patient monitor and multi-measurement module to aid clinicians to better focus their treatment of patients.
