Applied Biosystems to co-host stem cell technology symposium

Applied Biosystems and Rutgers Stem Cell Research Centre yesterday announced that they will host the first New Jersey Stem Cell Technology Symposium this week.
The convention will bring together scientists working in the field of stem cell research from industry and academia to enable greater collaboration and discuss best practices as well as drive standardisation to advance the science, the company reports.
Peter Dansky, president of the molecular and cell biology consumables division of Applied Biosystems, said that stem cell research is a focus for the company and its customers due to its potential to "revolutionise" medicine and present treatments for diseases that are presently not curable.
"We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the scientific community on events like this symposium to help our customers advance their research and drive knowledge sharing and standardisation in this emerging field of study," he added.
Earlier this month, Applied Biosystems announced that it will carry out a webcast presentation at the UBS Global Life Sciences Conference on September 26th.
