Boston Scientific announces ESCC schedule

30th August 2007

Boston Scientific has announced the schedule of its key press announcements and significant events that will take place at next week’s European Society of Cardiology Congress (ESCC).

Running from September 1st-5th in Vienna, Austria, the event will see the company present the five-year results of its Taxus II clinical trial of the Taxus paclitaxel-eluting stent system.

The firm will also present interim data from the second and third phases of its Olympia registry assessing real world outcomes for users of its Taxus Liberte paclitaxel-eluting stent system, with the firm forecasting a reiteration of the safety and efficacy of the product.

“Olympia is a prospective, multi-centre, multi-phased registry with a planned enrolment of up to 27,000 patients, making it the largest study of its kind worldwide,” Boston Scientific reports.

“The registry is designed to analyse real- world clinical outcomes data for Boston Scientific’s second-generation Tacus Liberte paclitaxel-eluting stent system.”

The firm will also host a symposium on drug-eluting stents entitled “What’s the evidence for using drug-eluting stents in your patients” at the conference, together with a cardiac rhythm management workshop session and other talks.

Last month, Boston Scientific announced the first implant of its third-generation Taxus Element paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent.
