Smith and Nephew claim ‘largest breadth of gender-specific knee products’
Smith & Nephew have claimed that with the availability of its Journey bi-cruciate stabilised knee system, the Genesis II total knee system and Legion revision knee system products, the firm has the largest breadth of gender-specific knee products.
It claims that this breadth has placed the firm as a market leader in this field, able to supply a range of personalised products to best meet patient need.
The firm reports that – unlike products offered by its competitors – it provides anatomic tibial baseplate for both right and left knees, with the design of these plates guaranteeing accuracy when used in both men and women.
Joseph DeVivo, president of orthopaedic reconstruction at the company, said: “Smith & Nephew knee products have long been solutions for active, informed patients.
“Our mission is to meet needs of all individuals and provide the best possible products for both men and women who want more than ever to regain their passion for life.”
He added that recent clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration highlights the span of its implant solutions as treatment of patients with knee osteoarthritis, with its products helping patients revert to a more active lifestyle.
In July 2006, Smith & Nephew claimed it had “an outstanding knee portfolio”, with the company boasting unique involvement in new treatment techniques through its orthopaedic and endoscopic segments.
