| Applied Biosystems launches genotyping programme | Posted on 17/08/2007 in Scientific Applied Biosystems has launched a new programme to provide genotyping services to laboratories which lack the facilities to perform the process themselves.
Providers in the UK, US and China, as well as in continental Europe, have signed up to the project.
Called the SNPlex Service Provider Programme, the scheme is aimed at research laboratories which do not have capillary electrophoresis (CE) genetic analysis systems.
A "broad range of support" is promised, based on Applied Biosystems' CE platforms, for issues such as sample extraction, genotyping and data analysis.
Phoebe White, senior director of genotyping, explains: "The SNPlex Service Provider Programme facilitates access to a complete genotyping analysis system."
"Applied Biosystems believes in partnering with leading laboratories to create programmes that broaden access to technologies," she adds.
Under the system, up to 48 single nucleotide polymorphisms may be tested simultaneously against a control sample.
