Cook announces appointment of aortic intervention vice-president

Cook Medical has announced the promotion of Barry Thomas from global leader of aortic intervention to vice-president of that business unit. Mr Thomas was appointed as global leader of this division in 2003.
In addition to his new role as vice-president of this segment, Mr Thomas has also been given the responsibility of aiding the business efforts of all eight of the firm's units in the Japanese and Asian markets.
Mr Thomas will work together with the company's subsidiaries and distributors in the region to coordinate its strategies and operations in its aortic intervention, cardiology, critical care, endoscopy, peripheral intervention, surgery, urology and women's health business units.
Kem Hawkins, president of Cook, said: "Barry has proven himself a tireless proponent of Cook technology and a valued executive capable of managing the global operations of one of our largest and fastest-growing divisions."
He added that the company was pleased to promote him to this new role and had faith in his ability to support the marketing and sales plans for the company in Japan and Asia.
In November 2006, Cook announced the establishment of its women's health business division which focuses on conditions affecting female patients, including chronic pelvic pain and those affecting fertility.
