| Biomet appoints president and CEO | Posted on 28/02/2007 in Medical Company Restructures Biomet has announced the appointment of Jeffrey R Binder as president and chief executive officer of the firm, with Mr Binder also appointed to the company's board of directors.
Mr Binder replaces Daniel P Hann in the role. Mr Hann, who has served as interim president and chief executive officer at Biomet, will remain as executive vice-president of administration at the company and a member of the board of directors.
Including recent senior management roles at Abbott Laboratories, Mr Binder has been involved in the orthopaedic medical device industry for 15 years, with a number of positions at a range of medical device firms.
Niles L Lobbit, chairman of Biomet, said: "After an extensive search, we are extremely pleased to have a proven leader with strong experience in leaading companies in the orthopaedic medical device industry."
He added that the company was grateful for the "excellent" work of Mr Hann over the past year in his interim position at Biomet.
Last August, Biomet announced that it had retained the services of executive search and leadership consulting firm Heidrick & Struggles and institutional management advisor The McLoughlin Company to aid the company in its search for a permanent president and chief executive officer.Other news stories from 28/02/2007
