Philips Medical Systems launches HeartStart MRx
Philips Medical Systems has announced the launch of the HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator. The HeartStart MRx can network with the Philips IntelliVue Clinical Network to allow the monitor to act as a wireless transport or cardiac bedside device.
The HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator includes synchronised cardioversion, defibrillation capabilities and built-in pacing, and enables the transportation of patients between departments without changing equipment.
At the patient bedside, the device can assist physicians requiring both centralised surveillance and cardiac therapy equipment to hand.
The IntelliVue network with which the HeartStart MRx can integrate is defined to manage time-critical patient monitoring data by exporting patient data to an electronic chart and controlling the exchange of information over the patient network.
Lynn Cochran, director of cardiovascular in-patient services at Edward Hospital and Health Services, said: “For the critical care environment, the ability to transport, defibrillate and view the data at a central station is the best of all worlds.”
She added that, as the monitor/defibrillator uses the same connection cables as IntelliVue bedside monitors, patient transports are simpler and more rapid.
Earlier this month at the Klas awards, cardiovascular technology from Philips Medical Systems won a won the speciality niche category for cardiology haemodynamics for its Calysto technology.
The company also was recognised with the Best in Klas award for its cardiology picture archiving and communication system.
