| MSD and Ingenuity Systems renew licensing agreement | Posted on 15/02/2007 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Ingenuity Systems announced it has signed a renewal agreement with MSD regarding the licensing of its biological modelling software application.
As part of the agreement, pharmaceutical company MSD will continue to use the Ingenuity Pathways Analysis (IPA) software system, which enables researchers to analyse and interpret complex biological models.
California-based Ingenuity Systems confirmed that the multi-year deal assures that scientists at MSD will continue to make use of the IPA application for future years in the course of their biological exploration and life sciences research.
"The expansion of our licensing agreement demonstrates [MSD's] commitment to solutions that help researchers rapidly derive biological meaning from their complex data," commented Peter DiLaura, spokesman for Ingenuity Systems.
In addition to the IPA software, the company has a knowledge database which contains details on biological interactions produced by millions of modelled relationships between drugs, cells, diseases and other matter. Ingenuity has claimed the database is the largest of its kind in the world with the greatest accuracy and most descriptive system. Last month, the company confirmed it had signed a renewal and expansion licensing agreement for its IPA software with the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation.
