| Boehringer Ingelheim signs partnership with Laureate Pharma | Posted on 07/02/2007 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Laureate Pharma has announced that it has signed a partnership agreement to collaborate with Boehringer Ingelheim.
According to the agreement, clients of Laureate will be granted access to Boehringer Ingelheim's manufacturing technology platform for pharmaceutical products produced using mammalian cell culture.
Additionally, Laureate will be granted large-scale manufacturing abilities to improve its speed and flexibility.
Clients of Laureate will be offered the use of Boehringer Ingelheim's Bi Hex expression system for the creation and development of production cell lines, in addition to access to the company's large-scale commercial productions at its Biberach site.
Prof Dr Rolf G Werner, senior vice president of corporate division biopharmaceuticals at Boehringer Ingelheim, said; "With Laureate Pharma, Boehringer Ingelheim complements its worldwide strategic manufacturing network with a strong partner for process development and clinical material supply."
He added that the company's process knowledge would give Laureate modern development, while the deal would also ease the transfer of technology to its commercial manufacturing business.
Last month, Boehringer Ingelheim reported that it had signed a collaboration and licence agreement with Ablynx, a leader in the discovery and development of Nanobodies.
The deal related to the use of this innovative class of therapeutic proteins for the development of new treatments for Alzheimer's disease.Other news stories from 07/02/2007
