Interested in a sales career within laboratory equipment? Do you know about the industry and the roles available?

This is a large export earner for the UK, with annual overseas sales of healthcare applications of at least £375 million. Goods are exported to most countries in the world, but especially the US and Germany. Products are used in such areas as laboratory medicine, pathology, drug discovery, disease management and genomic research.

The largest single market sector in the UK for use of Laboratory Products is the pharmaceutical industry, with a 36.6% share of the total market, followed by the NHS with 28.3%. Government and higher education is the third largest market, with a 17.6% share of the total.

In the industry sectors, the pharmaceutical industry is showing the highest growth, primarily among small to medium sized companies. The chemicals sector is small and growing modestly, and there is concern that growth in R&D is not matching that of equivalent companies overseas.

Growth in the public sector markets has been restricted by funding cuts and budgetary constraints — particularly in capital spending — but the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) in the health sector and the increasing partnership between industry and education, is likely to increase funding and opportunities.

The market as a whole has seen a large number of acquisitions and mergers and is increasingly dominated by a smaller number of large companies with wide product ranges and sophisticated distribution systems.

If you believe you are of the highest calibre then you can earn the high rewards available by excelling in this demanding growth area. Click here for information about your prospects within the industry. Alternatively, you can obtain details on how to register with Zenopa.
