Title: Editor/Writer
Should a more experienced candiate wish to apply then the role could be upgraded to principle writer
Location: Oxford (office based)
In addition to mentoring of junior writers and editors you will be required to manage accounts
1. Medical writing and scientific content 1.1. Manage a range of projects from inception to completion and liaise with other team members as appropriate " Provide strategic direction on new or existing client accounts, if required " Rapidly develop an understanding of new therapeutic areas and the relevant key opinion leaders " Objectively evaluate scientific publications and data " Contribute creative ideas, concepts, or suggestions to provide added value to projects 1.2. Establish and maintain a consistent editorial standard and help other editorial staff to ensure high-quality output 1.3. Act as the Scientific-Medical Lead on designated client accounts " Review project work from other writers and provide constructive feedback " Mentor and take responsibility for the work of less experienced writers as Communigen grows " Prepare briefing materials for freelance writers/editors and check the quality of their work 1.4. Ensure projects remain within specification and liaise with clients to negotiate changes where necessary " Be proactive in tracking projects and chasing comments from the client, authors or speakers before the final deadline 1.5. Attend meetings in the UK or elsewhere, providing on-site support as required, to meet client or Communigen requirements (including writing and general duties)
2. Account responsibilities 2.1. Provide editorial input for proposals, budget estimates and schedule development
3. Business development 3.1. Proactively support others in development of new business and new ideas for Communigen products 3.2. Be able to lead editorial aspects of proposal development, including presenting at new business pitches 3.3. Advise on which members of the writing/editing team (including freelancers and consultants) might be suitable to contribute to specific proposal and pitch activities
4. Internal and external relationships 4.1. External relationships " Build relationships with clients, key opinion leaders and others based on trust and maintenance of high standards " Discuss scientific content and strategy with clients and opinion leaders, whether face-to-face or via telephone " Develop strong, mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with freelancers and consultants 4.2. Internal relationships " Line management of designated members of the editorial team, as Communigen grows " Contribute to internal training programmes " Work collaboratively with Communigen colleagues and freelancers to ensure that all account, editorial and Company objectives are met
