Job Description Associate Manager, Business Analytics

Reports into Associate Director for Market Research
Analyzes non-routine data trends and makes recommendations based on findings to management within the department. May own data and reporting needs for a particular therapeutic area, franchise or area of concentration and coordinate with necessary data vendors. Responsible for analysis and interpretation of market data and Gilead sales data and for communicating findings to senior Commercial, Marketing, Manufacturing and Finance management. Works on issues where analysis of situation and or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Periodically interacts with senior management, customers and cross-functional teams. Develops analytical models to streamline recurring analyses and presentations. Participates in development, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution of analytical reporting systems utilized by Market Research, Business Analytics and Commercial. Liaises with Commercial and Commercial Operations teams to facilitate the development of strategic targets and segmentation tactics. Liaises with Finance, Business Analytics, Sales Force Effectiveness, and Market Research to facilitate accurate and timely performance reporting. Creates forecasts for a particular area of concentration (e.g., patient demand, or manufacturing for a particular product or therapeutic area).Conducts variance analysis and evaluates possible explanations for deviations. Interacts with Business & Commercial Leads to confirm or clarify assumptions for forecast modelling or explanations for budget variance.

Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position:
Requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to analyze data from multiple sources and communicate findings in a clear and organized manner. Must have ability to use software to meaningfully portray quantitative data in graphical form and a proven track record of effectively communicating technical concepts to management. Ability to provide high level professional support to senior managers and to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders is imperative. High level resourcefulness and problem solving skills under pressure are critical to this role. Must have a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical environment and experience in franchise-specific market. Strong working knowledge of global Sales and Marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IMS, etc.) is required. Must have demonstrated an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing. Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., Access, SAS, Cognos, MS Word & PowerPoint, etc.) is required. Advanced Excel skills required. Must be knowledgeable of business intelligence systems, their application within the biopharmaceutical industry, and how various systems communicate with one another. Must have experience with creating forecast reports, forecasting trends and identifying the bias in a forecast. Understands how to work with syndicated data specific to the biopharmaceutical industry.
May mentor less experienced employees on job duties and general departmental or Gilead operations. Actively participates in cross-functional projects that may involve varying therapeutic areas, franchises, and/or business systems.
Job Package Competetive basic salary and benefits package. Bonus 9%.
