Professional & Scientific Relations Manager
Location: West London with field based responsibilities 2-3 days per week.
Reports into Head of Marketing.
Product Area: Orphan Diseases :
Tracleer® (bosentan) is an oral dual endothelin receptor antagonist. Tracleer® is the only PAH therapy proven to delay disease progression, reduce severity and symptoms. Tracleer is the only oral PAH therapy with an established safety and tolerability profile in more than 60,000 patients worldwide.
Ventavis® (inhaled iloprost) is an inhaled formulation of iloprost, a synthetic compound that is structurally similar to prostacyclin (PGI2) – a naturally occurring molecule that causes blood vessels to dilate, limits cellular hypertrophy, and inhibits platelet aggregation.
Zavesca® (miglustat)
Miglustat, the active ingredient of Zavesca®, is an orally available molecule with a large volume of distribution, which was developed for the treatment of type 1 Gaucher disease (GD1).
" Ability and credibility to interact with relevant Key Opinion Leaders within priority therapy areas at all levels, international to regional
" Strong technical competencies relevant to professional relations which include media
relations, public relations, brand and corporate communications, advocacy partnerships,
brand and corporate issues and crisis management;
" Highly proficient in English, with strong written, verbal and presentation skills, visible both internally and externally;
" The ability to lead, influence, motivate and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of projects;
" Demonstrated credibility to interact productively with key external parties, medical and non-medical;
" Ability to translate complex scientific data into communications materials;
" Project management capability;
" Ability to work effectively and flexibly in a highly collaborative environment; with strong interpersonal teamwork skills;
" Ability to anticipate and adapt to change, with good problem solving skills, while maintaining momentum within an overall strategic plan;
" Up to date knowledge of ABPI code of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The overall aim of this role is:
" To improve the impact of brand marketing through high level interaction with KOLs and professional and patient advocacy groups, and the media.
Responsibilities
" Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with existing KOLs and professional and patient advocacy groups at a national level;
" KOL and other stakeholder mapping for new indications;
" Devise, implement and monitor stakeholder development plans;
" In conjunction with Senior Brand Manager(s), development and implementation of brand communications and media plans;
" Work with Brand Team to develop scientific congress programmes in line with brand plans;
" Coordinate all internal and external congress logistical activities;
" In conjunction with Brand and Key Account Teams, planning and hosting of national and local events;
" Brief KOLs as speakers for UK meetings and support GMM in selecting and briefing UK KOLs for international events;
" Provide regular, high level customer feedback to Brand Team to inform strategic decision making;
" Identify and facilitate phase IV centres, in conjunction with Medical Affairs;
" Development of Actelion UK corporate identity.
Key Internal Relationships:
" Full and active member of the UK marketing team, inputting into the strategic direction of the in-line and new brands;
" Communicate regularly to and work seamlessly with Brand and Key Account teams to ensure co-ordination of activities relating to KOLS, Patient Associations and other stakeholders as defined in the Brand Plans;
" Provide progress updates on a monthly basis to the Executive Committee;
" Liaise with key global functions (GSM, GMM, Corporate Communications, Congress & Events) to enable effective inter-country co-ordination.

| Person Profile |
Essential
" University qualification, preferably scientific;
" Significant UK/Eire pharmaceutical industry experience across a range of therapy areas;
" Significant experience of dealing with international KOLs
Desirable
" Previous experience in a senior healthcare public relations / communications role.
" Relevant professional qualification;
" Expertise in tertiary care business environment within the UK/Eire;
" Product launch experience. |
