| Person Profile |
Candidates:
* 2-3 years' proven experience in writing in the medical communications agency field (working across a range of therapy areas for different audiences),
* Preferably experience of reviewing the work of more junior writers
* Ability to produce written materials of high scientific quality that meet client strategic marketing objectives
* In-depth knowledge of medical communications business objectives, products and operating procedures
* Extensive experience with a wide range of medical communications materials, including publication planning, symposium and exhibition materials, pitch presentations and promotional materials (for a range of audiences)
* Strong reviewing/mentoring skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Creativity and ability to think strategically
* Excellent project/time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work efficiently and effectively to tight deadlines
* Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Enthusiasm, drive and flexibility
* Flexible attitude - managing ever-changing priorities
* Budgetary awareness
* Familiarity with code of practice guidelines
* Presentation skills
* Computer literate:
* Packages used include Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
* Familiarity with databases/search tools - e.g. Reference Manager, DataVision
* Also - we're getting lots of business from the sister Med Ed Company, in the area of patient recruitment for clinical trials (basically we're involved in producing advertising materials - to attract patients an investigators for the trials)- so if any writers or account managers have been involved in this area, or patient materials, or medical advertising, we'd also be interested in these.

Title : Senior Medical Writer
Reporting to : Editorial Team Leader/Medical Writing Team Leader
Role :
* Research and write client communication programmes, with a focus on marketing strategy,
key messages, and overall quality of all educational and promotional materials
* Act as scientific lead for the account team on large programmes or a number of medium-sized accounts, providing in-depth scientific knowledge of the product, therapy area and market
* Provide scientific and strategic expertise to support existing account teams and new business activities
Key Duties :
* Achieve consistently high quality on all writing projects within accounts, producing the full range of written communications items in accordance with the needs of the client, target audience and publication medium
* Implement strategic communication plans in close collaboration with client team, and proactively contribute creative ideas, concepts or suggestions to provide added value across accounts
* Provide medical advice/expertise/consultancy in areas of expertise (internally and externally)
* Apply high-level client liaison skills, actively contributing to client/opinion leader meetings and facilitating these meetings as required. Effectively troubleshoot/handle questions from the client/opinion leaders to ensure continuing good relationships
* Proactively develop accounts, working with Client Services/Business Development teams to generate new ideas/products to add to company portfolio. Participate in new business generation (proposals, pitches), offering scientific expertise and strategic vision
* Work closely with Team Leader to plan resource to match account needs
* In conjunction with Team Leader, utilise and manage freelance assistance where necessary (commissioning and briefing freelancers)
* Review written materials produced by Medical Writers/Associate Medical writers on dedicated accounts
* Assist Team Leader in coaching and mentoring Medical Writers and Associate Medical Writers, and assist in training of new recruits
* Contribute to project specifications and cost estimates, working closely with the Client Services team |
