Candidates :
* Educated to at least degree level in medicine, pharmacy, or life sciences * MUST have previous medical writing experience in a Medical Communications agency
For the Senior Medical Writer position, ideally, candidates will have several years agency experience covering a range of therapy areas/audiences. In addition to traditional MedComms writing the ideal candidate will have experience of producing marketing/promotional materials and/or writing for patients. However, all experienced writers with a range of skills will be considered. Candidates should be client- and opinion-leader friendly, and capable of representing the company at meetings and congresses.
Skills: * Strong, versatile writing and editorial skills * Good interpersonal and teamwork skills * Excellent attention to detail * Good research skills and ability to interpret complex scientific data * Enthusiasm, drive and flexibility * Ability to work efficiently and effectively to tight deadlines * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Proactive and self-motivated * Good interpersonal skills * Computer literate. Packages used include Microsoft: Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
* Also - we're getting lots of business from the sister Med Ed company, in the area of patient recruitment for clinical trials (basically we're involved in producing advertising materials - to attract patients an investigators for the trials)- so if any writers or account managers have been involved in this area, or patient materials, or medical advertising, we'd also be interested in these.

Title : Medical Writer/ Senior Medical Writer/Lead Medical Writer
Overview: Our client has a huge range of outputs with target audiences ranging from specialists through to nurses, patients and consumers. In addition to publication planning, meetings, exhibitions etc, a big component of the work is patient and investigator recruitment for clinical trials - which in all provides for a far more varied experience than most other Med Comms agencies.
Currently publication Planning (manuscripts, posters atc.) only makes up around 10-20% of the work. A lot of work involves meetings, exhibitions and also digital media. A huge component of the work is patient and investigator recruitment for Clinical Trials. These materials are highly designed and written in a chatty and informal style.
Role : * To research and write a variety of materials to a high standard for different target audiences. * Work within the Medical Writing Department and as part of inter-department project teams.
Key Duties : * Research and write copy to the highest scientific and grammatical standards, with excellent technical accuracy and attention to detail, according to client brief and incorporating key marketing messages where appropriate * Tailor materials appropriately for a range of educational needs and target audiences * Incorporate internal/client/author comments using a scientifically accurate and balanced approach * Act as lead medical contact on specific projects * Write accurate freelance briefs as necessary for a range of projects * Develop understanding of the needs of clients, including the marketing relevance of key data, and work with CSU team to offer solutions as appropriate * Exercise good interpersonal/communication skills for effective and professional liaison with clients, healthcare professionals and the internal team * Monitor and manage own projects, delivering to the required budget and time specification (both internal and external deadlines) * Anticipate workload issues and work closely with manager to manage workload across all projects * Maintain broad awareness of developments in relevant therapeutic areas * Diligently follow all company SOPs |
